About the event
In this talk, we propose to discuss Lee Miller (1907-1977), an American woman and surrealist artist with an incredible destiny.
In turn top model in the 1920s-30s, fashion photographer, muse of Man Ray (1890-1976) and Edward Steichen (1879-1973), rare female war correspondent to have followed the advance of Allied troops in Europe, and finally cordon bleu, Lee Miller lived on different fronts.
Yet her extraordinary life has long been hushed up by Lee Miller herself, who became a mother after the Second World War. Why did she decide to keep this part of her story secret, to the extent that her photographic archives were only rediscovered by her son after her death, in the family attic? This is what we're going to find out in this lecture, which will take us back over the life and work of one of the few women photographers of the Surrealist movement.
Conference in French.
Admission free, subject to availability.
No entry will be permitted after 10 minutes from the start of the lecture. Thank you for your understanding.
